* All younger volunteers and accompanying parents please read before volunteering.*
We require that all volunteers be fifteen (15) years of age or older. Our kitchen area is a very busy place and really not suitable for younger children. However, there are several volunteer opportunities outside of the kitchen area where younger volunteers can participate. Listed below are a few areas where younger volunteers can better serve:
Younger volunteer serving areas (with accompanying adult):
- Stocking of shelves
- Sweeping walkways outside
- Refilling drinks
- Rolling silverware
- Sweeping inside of facility
- Busing tables
- Planting/watering flowers outside
- Give out fresh produce to clients
In certain circumstances, younger children are permitted in a group setting, but they must be accompanied by an adult on a 1:1 ratio. Children between the ages of 12 and 14 are required to be supervised by adults on a 4:1 ratio (at least 1 adult supervisor for every 4 children). Adult supervisors are required to be in the work area with children at all times. The Community Table staff and volunteers are not qualified as child care providers and will not be responsible for supervising children. Adult supervisors are responsible for all actions of young volunteers at all times.
We appreciate you coming to volunteer with us regardless of your age! We believe that all ages can contribute to our mission statement. Thank you for coming in to volunteer with us and we are glad we can provide opportunities for you to serve in your community!
